Getting to Borsh: via Corfu, Tirana or by car

How to get to Borsh: fly to Corfu and take the ferry to Saranda, fly into Tirana and head south, or drive in on the coast road.

Palasa beach seen from the Llogara pass

Borsh lies on the coast road between Himara and Saranda, in the far south of Albania and across the water from Corfu. There are three common ways to get here, and the best one depends on where you fly from and whether you want a car during your stay.

Via Corfu and the Saranda ferry

Fly to Corfu, take the ferry to Saranda, about 30 minutes on the fast boat, then continue about 50 minutes up the coast by car or taxi. For many guests from western and central Europe this is the shortest door-to-door option. Read our Corfu to Borsh guide for the details, including the border and the time difference.

Via Tirana airport

Fly into Tirana International Airport and drive about 4.5 hours south, down the coast through Vlora and Himara. A rental car from the airport gives you freedom for day trips later. You can also take a bus towards Saranda. See our Tirana airport to Borsh guide.

By car

Borsh sits directly on the SH8 coast road. Vila Borsh is by the beach, below the village. If you are on a longer road trip through Albania or coming from Greece, it is easy to add a stop on the Riviera.

Do you need a car here?

For the beach, no: the sea is a few steps from the house. For day trips to Porto Palermo, the Blue Eye or Butrint, a car makes life much easier.
