Borsh has a Mediterranean climate: hot, dry summers and mild winters, with most of the rain falling in the colder months. That makes the beach season long, but the weeks within it feel quite different. Here is how we would choose.

The short answer

If you want warm sea and a bit more space, look at June and September. If you want the full summer atmosphere and do not mind heat and busier roads, come in July or August. If you are more interested in walking, the castle and the olive groves than in swimming, spring and autumn are worth a look.

July and August: high summer

These are the hottest and busiest weeks along the whole Albanian Riviera. Families from Albania and from abroad come to the coast, most seasonal businesses are open and the evenings are long and warm.

  • Expect strong sun and hot afternoons. A good rhythm is to swim in the morning, rest in the shade at midday and go back to the beach in the late afternoon.
  • Roads, the Saranda ferry and popular sights are at their busiest. Start day trips early.
  • Because the beach is about 7 km long, you can still find a quieter stretch. See our guide to Borsh beach.

June: early summer

June often feels like summer without the full rush. Days are long and warm, and the sea warms up over the month. Not every seasonal business is in full swing at the start of June, so check ahead if something matters to you.

September and October: late summer

The sea usually stays warm well into September, because it takes the whole summer to heat up. The crowds thin out after the school holidays, and the light gets softer. As October goes on, the season winds down and more beach businesses close, while the walking weather improves.

May: the start of the season

May is green and pleasant for walks, and sunny days can be warm. The sea can still feel fresh, and the coast is only beginning to wake up for the summer.

Winter and early spring

This is the wettest part of the year and a quiet time on the coast. It suits walks to Borsh castle and through the olive groves more than beach days.

Averages are only averages

Weather varies from year to year. A cool, windy week in June or a hot week in October can happen. Check a forecast shortly before you travel, and for ferry days leave some room for delays (see the Corfu ferry guide).

Which dates are free

We do not publish fixed opening dates here, because they depend on the year. The easiest way to find out is to ask us which dates are free: tell us when you would like to come and who is coming, and we will reply personally.
