Things to do near Borsh

Things to do near Borsh, sorted by effort: the castle above the village, Qeparo and Porto Palermo close by, and full days to the Blue Eye and Butrint.

Clear water and one of the Ksamil islands

Borsh is a quiet base, but you do not have to go far to find something worth seeing. These are the places we suggest most often to our guests, sorted by how much of the day they take.

Close to home

The beach is the main thing to do, and we built a beach volleyball court on it for our guests. For a change from the water, walk up to Borsh castle, the ruins on the rock above the old village, with views over the olive groves and the bay.

Short trips up the coast

North of Borsh the coast road passes Qeparo, a village in two halves: old stone houses on the hillside and a beach village by the sea. A little further on, about 15 minutes from Borsh, Ali Pasha's fortress sits on a small peninsula in the bay of Porto Palermo. Both fit easily into a morning or an afternoon.

Full days to the south

The Blue Eye spring is about an hour away, inland from Saranda. Butrint, the ancient city and UNESCO World Heritage Site south of Saranda, is about 1.5 hours by car and deserves a whole day. Read our Butrint guide before you go: the heat and the drive are part of the planning.

Getting around

All of these are easiest with a car, and early starts help in July and August. If you are coming without a car, ask us when you enquire and we will tell you what is realistic. Our getting here guide covers the routes to Borsh itself.
